12 AUG Lighthouse

12 Aug. Forillon National Park,

Today we rode to the Lighthouse…well sort of.  We rode Mike to the Trailhead and realized that was a lot more effort than we were used to.  Then, we started down the 4 km trail to the lighthouse and saw the first (of many) hill. Not wanting more excursion and worried about falling we decided to lock Mike up and walk the “moderate” trail without hiking boots, poles…and hats and oh ya it was hot and sunny too.  Really it was a nice day but the walk was more than what we had done since Elizabeth’s broken ankle.  The trail to the cape was 3.5 KMs and up and down and around but mostly up, especially the last .5 KMs!

Eventually we did make it to a beautiful vista, viewed seals, and made our way back to Mike for our picnic lunch. The ride back to camp was challenging and both of us were hot and tired.  We don’t have the strength we used to and, well let’s just say we need to consider making some changes.  It was a beautiful scenic bike and hike and when we returned, the hammocks went up and we both had a nice rest.

Forillon National Park is a great park to visit, camp and tour.  Tuesday we are headed to the Historical site where artillery and bunkers shot at German submarines in the bay!  Then, we are hoping to see whales and other sea life.  Forecast is 40% chance of rain.
