ACADIAN DAY 15 AUG

August 15  National Acadia Day

Lots of celebrations planned today at camp.  BBQ Hot dogs for lunch.  Petting Zoo.  Concert/music at 6:30 just around the corner at the amphitheatre outdoor
concert shell.  Dinner at 8:00...FIREWORKS 9:15ish.  All an amazing celebration.

But first: Laundry.  Just a short walk from the trailer. We sat outside in the beautiful day and breeze from the river while waiting for the machines to finish.

The campground is part of a municipal complex called the Restigouche Experience Centre.  Jerry spoke with he manager and learned that the centre was created because people would come to Campbellton, get gas and get on their way.  Now tourist stay at the campground and visit the town.  It is very well planned and managed.  There is a great trail along the river and an amphitheatre beside the information centre.  Part of the complex is a restaurant called "Taste the Place."  It is only open three days a week, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and you can only eat there if you make a reservation i.e. no just showing up at the door.  Our waitress explained that because it was owned and run by the city, these concessions were made so they weren't in competition with local businesses.  We had dinner - the food was great, the atmosphere too and our waitress was very good.

We finished just in time to see the fireworks display.

Here's a brief video of the music talent:

They really take
