Happy Labour Day Weekend

"Isabelle," owner of the pizza place we ate at, makes these cotton cloth-craft during the "quiet" months.  She is holding one we bought to hang in the trailer. (Trailer=Roulette en Francais)

Sillons (ripples/furrows) formed in the stone by the winds.  The camp we are staying at is called "Chalets Camping des Sillons" as these pictures are part of our shore.  LOTS of wind here by the way.
The upper part of this rock was a very soft red sandstone while the base seemed to be granite.

AUG 31

Last night we decided we liked this island so much (and that there was much to see and do including nothing) we changed our ferry, and camp reservations here and on PEI and added days to our stay here on the island.  (From 8 to 17 days total.  The odd number is due to limited ferry availability.)

Today we rode 30+km in 35km+ winds to Pointe-aux-Loups.  Along the way we found the hot spot of wind/kite surfing.  There were many folks out doing their thing and we stopped to watch. The wind direction coupled with the dunes allows calmer water while enjoying high winds.

In Pointe-aux-Loups we visited Odette Leblanc an artist/comedian who specializes in entertainment and sewn products of leather and seal and other materials.  She gave us directions to another artist and a small community café.  The café was in a small hall and two ladies served us some great homemade deserts and coffee/tea.  The next artist, Helene Chevarie, had a variety of art and crafts. Paintings, photographs, shell craft and more.  All encounters led to interesting conversations.

On the beach this afternoon we had a long chat with a local person, Shirley, about the islands and discovered many more interesting locations to visit along with interesting facts about the islands.  She vacationed here from Quebec and fell in love with the islands, bought a vacation property and later retired here.  For July and August, she rents her home out and is staying in the camp in a trailer!
