SEPT 9/10

SEPT 9
Today is a bright sunny fresh day and about 15C.  Yesterday we moved the trailer to a new site as we were concerned that a downed hydro pole just up from our site would pull more poles down and hit us.  Right after we moved, 4 Hydro Quebec trucks pulled in and replaced the broken (yes broken at the base) pole.  We had our hydro back around 11:00 p.m. after being out for about 24 hours.

Our trailer was right in line with these poles!

Right after we moved our trailer worried that the lines would come down on us, the Hydro folks showed up and replaced the broken pole!

So, the wind is lowest since we arrived and decided to cycle to La Grave at the end of the island.  It was further than we thought and much windier.  We did a 180, had lunch and returned to Clifford.  After loading, we journeyed back down and ended in a café in La Grave.  Then shopping in some of the tourist traps.

We knew there was some damage on the island and unexpectedly, one of the results of Dorian was across the road where the wharf had broken loose and 15 or 20 sail boats blew into shore!

SEPT 10

A very quiet day for us.  Elizabeth has problems with her back – a muscle spasm we hope – so she booked a massage for Wednesday morning.  We spent the morning doing chores (Jerry) and reading (Elizabeth).  A man across the road here at our new site found a large float on the beach and gave it to us as a reminder of the hurricane.  He and his wife spend 5 months here and leave their trailer over the winter – it costs them $1500 for the year.  Pretty reasonable.

We spent the afternoon at the beach in the lovely sunshine but first, we took Misty to the beach so she could dip her toes in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.  Perhaps you can tell just how much fun she had from the pictures.

SEPT 11
Rainy day all day.  Elizabeth went for a massage while I grocery shopped.  Bought some fresh Halibut for dinner.  (It was excellent!) Quiet day.
